Super Stormy Side of Life

It is a few minutes to 7pm. I just left the office hoping by now traffic would have subsided, but I guess everyone must have been thinking like me meaning the road is jam-packed. If you are a visitor here, you'll be forgiven for thinking we are a bunch of primitive Africans who think roads are to be used as parking lots. It's been a long wet, coldish Monday and as tired as I am, I have chosen not to get angry but instead I am finding amusement in some of the foolish things being done by "consumers" of this road.

Fear of the Unknown

They say if you are receptive and open minded enough, then every minute of your life offers great opportunities to learn a lesson or two. Yesterday's opportunity came through the most unexpected quarters.... A cat.... Yeah yeah yeah..... My love for animals knows no boundaries. I bond with them all (well, as long as they are not planning on having me for breakfast, lunch, dinner or any in-between meals). So, where did I meet this cat?

What sank the Ship?

Not to say that there's any good way to die, but I think death by water is just too painful. Why do I say this? Because in my earlier days of learning how to swim I drunk enough pool-water by force (hoping it hadn't been peed in), and the feeling was just wrong! Besides the water drinking, there's that part where water gets into your nose and it is a horrendous feeling! Can you imagine how the victims of death-by-water must have felt? Especially the kids and non-swimmers? My heart just goes out to them, and may their souls rest in eternal peace.

The Power of Your Mindset

As my friend was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages, just a small rope! It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from the ropes they were tied to but for some reason, they did not. My friend saw a trainer nearby and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.

Still stuck in the past?

They say a change is as good as a rest and so for me, when I am tired, I stop doing what I was doing before and look for another distraction. One of the distractions I enjoy is reading clean wholesome jokes as a way of relaxing my mind.

I recently stambled upon an interesting joke which I have shared with you here below:

Attitude Adjustment Anyone?

The first half of 2012 is almost gone. How are your New Year resolutions coming along? Or are you  still trying to work on last year’s resolutions? Whatever the case, the past is gone never to come back; you can decide to have a New Year any time you decide to. It’s all a matter of attitude.

Flying 101

On Friday 11th March is a day I will never forget. I did what the street lingo in Kenya would term as “roundi-mwenda”…. I air-crossed this beautiful country called Tanzania like my life depended on it. If you are one of my friends on facebook, you must have seen my status message which read something like this: “Woke up in Dar, had breakfast in Arusha, lunch at Kilimanjaro and mid-afternoon tea in Zanzibar…. I wonder where I’ll land next. Sigh!”
