A For Avoid I have never in my life thought I would see a day when I would be told to avoid HUGGING or SHAKING people’s hands. If you know me then you must know how much of a hugger and a greeter I am. I can do without the crowds any time of day since am not a fun of crowds anyway, but the restriction to avoid hugs and handshakes, that one is really getting to me. Thinking about it now I realize... When I was young, over Christmas holidays my cousins and I would be taken to the village by our parents to spend the holidays with our grandparents. We would spend lots of time engaging ourselves with farm-related activities such as coffee picking (my favorite activity), drawing water from the well to water the livestock that my grandparents had and also getting them napier grass to feed them. I... [Read More]

Life Lessons From President Xi Jing Peng of China:   When I was a small child , I was very selfish, I would always grab the best for myself. Slowly, everyone left me and I had no friends. I didn’t think it was my fault so I criticized others.   My father gave me 3 sentences to help me in life.   One day, my father cooked 2 bowls of noodles put the 2 bowls on the table. One bowl had one egg on top... [Read More]

Last week was a very weird week for me. I kept waiting for CATS that didn’t happen, and as I result I couldn’t make any concrete plans on any of my other activities because I was expecting those exams to happen any day. But at the end of it all, I was informed that they will not happen last week, meaning they might happen this coming week. As a result of being in a state of limbo, stuff I was... [Read More]

You must have heard the saying, “you are what you eat”. That’s true not just for your body but also for your mind. If you constantly feed your body with junk, sooner or later you will see the results. The reverse is also true; if you feed your body with healthy food, exercise daily and maintain a healthy lifestyle all round, then the results will also be evident. The same case applies to your... Whether you like it or not disappointments are a part of life. Just like day and night are a part of life, we are assured that at some point disappointment will happen to you.  That does not mean that you should go around carrying a negative attitude or being a pessimist. No. All I’m saying is that you should not be surprised when it happens. The best way to deal with disappointments is to... [Read More]

So, maybe according to you yesterday was not a very good day; no problem. Today is a new day. What does a new day represent? It represents new opportunities; renewed determination; renewed vigor; restored strength, new ideas and visions, etc. A new day means a new perspective.  Like plants covered in morning dew every morning, every day comes wrapped in possibilities. Similarly, like morning dew... [Read More]

..... or like we were taught when computers became part of our lives, “Garbage In, Garbage Out". Your life is a reflection of the commands you give to your “computer”. If you key in the right commands, then the output will be excellent; the reverse is also true. Eg if you key in laziness, you’ll reap the  fruits of laziness, etc. Life is also a magnet; it has a way of attracting the things you... [Read More]

Life has a way of pulling a fast one on us. Things happen that you didn't expect and if you are not careful, you might end up being depressed. But guess what, in every bad situation, there is always something positive to embrace. You just need to look long and hard enough and you will see it. In the words of Laura Staley, “Sometimes life events break your heart. Even as you grieve, allow light to... [Read More]

The only survivor of a shipwreck washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to... [Read More]

We all know that women are very good at multi-tasking, something men are not very gifted in unless it involves the remote control and food – no offense men. A woman could be in the sitting room breastfeeding the baby, at the same time sewing a button on her child’s shirt, while watching her favorite soap on Television, and talking to you on phone but is still capable of hearing the conversation... Envy. Jealousy. Bitterness. Anger. Hatred. These seem to be the constant “rulers” of the world we live in today. People being envious and jealous of your achievements, others being bitter and angry because according to them you got “easily” what they have been working so hard to get. As a result, the hatred that fills the hearts of many is so much and palpable that I think scientists and... [Read More]

“Replace the word can’t with can. Know that you can, believe that you can, and know with ALL of your heart that you will. You will succeed in spite of any obstacles that may try to hinder you! There’s so much power in having a positive attitude, positive mindset, and positive outlook.” ~ Stephanie Lahart

It is exactly three days to the New Year and even though 2013 has 365 days like any other non-leap year, for me it has seemed like it has been twice as long. I am not superstitious but at some point during the year I was tempted to think that the “13” in the year was a sign of ill-luck. However, like someone once said, you don’t need to be in class for you to learn a new thing… how true this is!... [Read More]
